APEDA strengthens millet exports with trade fairs, exhibitions, and global promotions, enhancing India’s agricultural trade footprint.
India is ramping up efforts to boost millet exports through the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The agency has organized trade fairs, exhibitions, and the Millet Conclave to promote awareness, usage, and international trade of millets. Under the International Year of Millets 2023, various activities, including international trade fairs, sampling events, and buyer-seller meets, were conducted in collaboration with Indian embassies and government departments.
To further support natural farming, the government launched the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), promoting chemical-free agriculture. With increasing global demand for organic and nutritious food, India sees significant opportunities for expanding its exports of natural products.
The government is also broadening its agricultural export base by introducing new products, targeting new markets, and strengthening Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to ensure better market access. Efforts include resolving trade barriers through bilateral discussions and WTO negotiations, positioning India as a key player in global agricultural trade.
