Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have unveiled the Gemini Cooperation, a groundbreaking operational partnership set to commence operations in February 2025. This collaboration, born out of mutual strategic interests, aims to redefine industry standards for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Hapag-Lloyd has officially notified its departure from THE Alliance by the end of January 2025. The partnership will span seven global (sub)trades and boast 26 mainline services, emphasising a network centered around 12 key hub ports, including 10 owned or controlled terminals and two highly efficient operations in Singapore and Cartagena.
Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd will deploy 60 percent and 40 percent, respectively, of the fleet, comprising around 290 modern vessels with an overall standing capacity of 3.4 million TEU.
The partnership’s key objectives include achieving industry-leading schedule reliability exceeding 90 percent, ensuring efficient global network coverage, and accelerating sustainability efforts for a more eco-friendly operation.
