On mission mode, Indian Railways’ freight loading for the first seven months of fiscal year 2022-23 has surpassed the loading and earnings for the same period last year.
From April to October 22, a total freight loading of 855.63 MT was achieved, compared to 786.2 MT last year, representing a 9 per cent increase over last year’s loading. Railways earned Rs 92345 crore compared to Rs 78921 crore last year, a 17 per cent increase.
During the month of October 22, 118.94 MT of origin freight was loaded, compared to 117.34 MT in October 21, representing a 1.4 per cent increase over last year. Freight revenue of Rs. 13353 crore was achieved in comparison to Rs. 12313 crore in October 21, representing an increase of 8 per cent over the previous year.
Following the mantra “Hungry For Cargo,” IR has made sustained efforts to improve the ease of doing business as well as the delivery of services at competitive prices, resulting in new traffic coming to railways from both conventional and non-conventional commodity streams. The customer-centric approach and work of Business Development Units, backed up by agile policymaking, aided Railways in reaching this historic milestone.
