The brand new Donyi Polo Airport was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on 19th of November, 2022. Located at Hollongi, the airport is around 15km from the capital Itanagar and is all decked up to link the border state with other parts of the country.
“Political commentators had claimed (in 2019) that the laying of the foundation stone for the airport was an election gimmick. But today when there are no elections due, we are launching this airport,” the Prime Minister said.
As per the officials, the newly built airport would service around 20 lakh people around and would help in boosting connectivity, trade & tourism.
The Prime Minister also launched a coffee-table book on the central government’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN.
Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu were present on the occasion.
