Indian Maritime Centre’s first Board meeting elects Devki Nandan as Chairman and sets key objectives.
The Indian Maritime Centre (IMC) held its inaugural Board of Directors meeting on 14 October 2024 in Mumbai. Incorporated on 27 September 2024, the IMC aims to unify India’s maritime policies and foster growth in the maritime sector. The Board elected Devki Nandan, President of the Indian Private Ports and Terminals Association (IPPTA), as Chairman, while Shankar Shinde was named Vice Chairman. Capt Sankalp Shukla will serve as Secretary, and Capt Vikas Vij as Treasurer.
IMC will play a crucial role in creating a unified approach to maritime policy, boosting India’s global maritime presence, and aligning with the Maritime India Vision 2030. The Board also approved membership applications from the Association of Container Train Operators (ACTO) and the Indian Register of Shipping (IR Class IRS).
Devki Nandan expressed his commitment to developing maritime trade and supporting the Government’s initiatives under Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kal Vision 2047, emphasising IMC’s role in shaping the future of the Indian maritime sector.
