FedEx reinforces its alliance with The Akshaya Patra Foundation by donating electric vehicles for meal distribution.
Continuing its support for The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s initiatives, FedEx has contributed seven electric vehicles (EVs) to aid in the distribution of nutritious meals to school children in India. The vehicles, allocated to locations in Panvel, Delhi, and Narsingi, signify a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency while reducing carbon emissions.
The partnership between FedEx and The Akshaya Patra Foundation aims to streamline meal distribution processes, allowing the foundation to redirect resources towards its primary objective of nourishing and empowering children. By transitioning from fuel-based to electric vehicles, the collaboration not only reduces the carbon footprint but also underscores a commitment to sustainable development.
In addition to the EV donation, FedEx has extended its support by facilitating mid-day meals for over 550,000 children, furthering its commitment to social responsibility and sustainable practices. Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of India Operations and Customer Experience, emphasised FedEx’s broader sustainability efforts, aiming to inspire businesses and communities worldwide.
Shridhar Venkat, CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, expressed gratitude for FedEx’s ongoing partnership, highlighting its transformative impact on children’s lives. Together, the organisations strive to provide not only meals but also educational opportunities, fostering a brighter future for underserved communities.
