The Erik Thun Group reveals plans for fleet expansion with the procurement of four new vessels, signifying a significant step towards maritime innovation and sustainable shipping practices.
Two of the vessels, categorised as multi-purpose dry cargo ships, will be constructed by Shipsveerf Ferus Smit B.V. in the Netherlands, adding to the company’s existing orderbook of 14 vessels from the same shipbuilder.
The contracted vessels include two multi-purpose dry cargo ships boasting 5100 DWT and Ice Class 1B certification. Designed as the next generation of ‘Lake Vanern Max’ ships, these vessels are tailored for operations in Lake Vänern, Sweden. The addition of these two ships completes a series of six multi-purpose dry cargo vessels currently on order by Erik Thun.
The Erik Thun Group’s expansion aligns with its commitment to shaping a more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced maritime industry.
