President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the imperative to fortify the country’s port infrastructure and improve efficiency during the ‘Boita Bandana’ ceremony organised by the Paradip Port Authority.
Commending the government’s Sagarmala program for fortifying port activities, President Murmu underscored the vision of ‘Ports for Prosperity’ and ‘Ports for Progress.’ She emphasised the pivotal role of maritime trade, constituting 95 percent of India’s total trade by volume and 65 percent by value.
Calling for Indian ports to align with global standards, Murmu stressed the need for infrastructure enhancement. She hailed the historic Baliyatra festival, symbolising merchants’ voyages to Java, Sumatra, and Bali, as a testament to Odisha’s prosperous maritime trade legacy.
She expressed satisfaction with Paradip Port’s doubled cargo handling capacity and its recognition at the Global Maritime India Summit – 2023. Inaugurating the Multi-Modal Logistics Park, she anticipated a transformative impact on transparent trade development.
