DP World’s Mundra terminal adds its first direct service to the US East Coast, boosting trade and connectivity.

DP World has introduced its first direct service to the United States East Coast from its Mundra terminal, enhancing India’s trade connectivity with the world’s largest economy. The milestone was marked by the inaugural port call of M.V. MAERSK ATLANTA earlier this month.
The MECL service connects ports like Houston, Norfolk, Newark, Port Tangier Mediterranean, Salalah, Jebel Ali, Charleston North, and Savannah. This new route is set to improve transit times, strengthen bilateral trade, and support Indian industries such as handicrafts, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, which have strong demand from the US East Coast.
Ravinder Johal, Chief Operating Officer at DP World, highlighted the importance of efficient maritime routes in strengthening India’s trade partnerships. Exporters and importers across Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh can now leverage the MECL service for smoother cargo movement.
