China unveils a 64.5-meter hydrogen-powered ship with a 380-km range, set to operate in 2025 on Zhejiang’s inland route.
China has made a groundbreaking move in green logistics by launching its first hydrogen-powered container ship in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. The 64.5-meter-long vessel, with a capacity of 64 TEU containers, is powered by two 240 kW hydrogen fuel cell systems, offering a 380 km range.
Equipped with the largest hydrogen fuel cell ever installed on a vessel, the ship features a hydrogen storage system with a capacity of 550 kg. Scheduled for testing, it will start operations in 2025, serving an inland route between Zhapu Port in Jiaxing and Xiasha Port in Hangzhou, marking China’s first hydrogen-powered inland container line.
