Om Prakash Sharma, an esteemed officer of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) Cadre since 1996, has been serving as the Director of Economic Regulations in the Ministry of Civil Aviation since 2021. Sharma holds a portfolio overseeing various critical aspects, including the Cargo Industry, MRO, Aircraft Leasing, Gatishakti, and Parliament Division. His remarkable career spans several significant roles, reflecting his versatile expertise. Before his current position, he contributed to the National Mission for Clean Ganga as the Director of Finance.
In his captivating address at the CargoNXT Event, O.P. Sharma underscored the importance of digital capacity in the export-import gateways, emphasising the need for efficient digital processes to enhance export and import operations. His insights delved into the significance of digitisation in streamlining various procedures and measures to enhance performance across different sectors.
Sharma also revealed the government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a conducive environment for the logistics and supply chain sector. He elaborated on the government’s initiatives to improve infrastructure quality at various airports, including those like Jewar, right from their inception to ensure their future utility.
Additionally, the Chief Guest addressed the challenges of expediting shipments with a focus on efficiency. He acknowledged the prevalent issues, such as delays at airports, cargo holdups, and shipment complications, and explored strategies for resolving them effectively.
