Boeing and HPCL collaborate to expand SAF production, certification, and policy advocacy, advancing India’s green aviation goals.

Boeing and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have joined forces to strengthen India’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) ecosystem. The partnership aims to scale up SAF production, support certification of domestically produced fuel, and drive policy initiatives that promote a sustainable aviation sector.
As part of the collaboration, Boeing and HPCL will work on implementing sustainability standards across the SAF supply chain, explore training programs, and share industry best practices. Boeing India and South Asia President Salil Gupte emphasised SAF’s role in reducing aviation emissions and reaffirmed Boeing’s commitment to supporting sustainability in India.
HPCL’s Green R&D Centre is leading SAF development, leveraging its proprietary Trijet technology to convert used cooking oil into aviation fuel. HPCL Director of Marketing Amit Garg highlighted SAF’s potential to cut carbon emissions by up to 84%, positioning it as a key driver for the future of green aviation.
