BEML and Bharat Electronics (BEL) have forged a groundbreaking partnership aimed at revolutionising rail communication technology in India by jointly developing an indigenous Train Control Management System (i-TCMS).
BEML and BEL have embarked on a transformative journey to pioneer the development of an indigenous Train Control Management System (i-TCMS) in India. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two major Defence PSUs signifies a significant milestone towards fostering innovation and self-reliance in the crucial domain of train control management systems.
The MOU exchange ceremony took place at the BEML headquarters, graced by esteemed dignitaries including Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, and Manoj Jain, Director (R&D) representing BEL, along with senior officials from both entities. This collaborative effort aligns seamlessly with the ‘Make in India’ initiative championed by the Government of India, aiming to identify potential areas of cooperation between BEML and BEL. The focus is on developing high-value products and solutions tailored to the specific requirements of Indian Railways and Metro systems.
The collaboration seeks to address the prevailing dependency on imported technology for Train Control Management Systems (TCMS) by developing indigenous solutions. TCMS, often dubbed as the “brain of the train,” plays a crucial role in coordinating control and monitoring functions across various systems. Through this strategic alliance, BEML and BEL aim to revolutionise India’s rail transportation landscape, ushering in a new era of technological advancement, operational efficiency, and national self-reliance.
