Changi Airport partners with Aurrigo to deploy four autonomous baggage handling vehicles.
Changi Airport is set to revolutionise its underwing operations with the introduction of four state-of-the-art autonomous electric baggage vehicles by Aurrigo. These vehicles, utilising Aurrigo’s Auto-DollyTug®, will streamline baggage handling processes, ensuring seamless operations at one of the world’s busiest airports.
Following the successful completion of Phase 2A testing, which spanned over two years and validated the vehicles’ performance under various weather conditions, the partnership between Changi Airport Group (CAG) and Aurrigo International plc aims to enhance operational efficiency further.
These cutting-edge baggage handling vehicles, designed and built in the UK, are expected to arrive in Singapore soon. They are poised to address labour shortages, enhance environmental sustainability, and drive operational excellence in the global aviation sector.
Professor David Keene, CEO of Aurrigo, expressed confidence in the technology’s potential to transform live flight servicing, acknowledging Changi Airport Group’s instrumental role in driving innovation in the aviation sector.
Poh Li San, Senior Vice President at Changi Airport Group, anticipates the trial of these vehicles in Phase 2B, emphasising the importance of validating new operational concepts to support wide-body flight turnarounds effectively.
