The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways intends to cut the travel distance and time between Delhi and Mumbai. In a recent interview with Anurag Jain, the newly appointed secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Ministry, he said that the Delhi-Mumbai expressway will reduce the travel time from 24 to 12 hours.
Expected to be completed by December 2024, this 1,350 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will allow vehicles to run at 120 kmph. Divided into ‘nine’ columns, eight columns’ work has already been completed. As reviewed by him, Rs. 26,000 crore worth of National Highway projects are being executed in MP. He added that around 7,700 km of roads have been constructed in the state so far, and 245 km of expressway pass through Madhya Pradesh.
