From February 25 to March 5, the airport will host global dignitaries, prompting the AAI to enhance facilities and logistics for a smooth experience.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is preparing for the prestigious pre-wedding celebration of Ambani-Merchant at Jamnagar Airport, designated as an international airport for the event. Between February 25 and March 5, the airport is set to welcome global dignitaries, prompting the AAI to elevate its facilities and logistics to ensure a seamless experience.
In preparation for the influx of international guests, the AAI has collaborated with the Union government’s Ministries of Health, Finance, and Home Affairs to establish a dedicated Custom, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) facility. The normally defense-oriented airport is granted access to the Indian Air Force’s sensitive “technical” area for accommodating up to three aircraft simultaneously.
The AAI has expanded the passenger building from 475 sq.m to 900 sq.m, accommodating nearly 360 passengers during peak hours. Manpower has been increased across all verticals, with additional housekeeping staff, security personnel, and ground handling agency staff.
To cater to the extensive guest list, including global figures like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Rihanna, the airport will witness 140 aircraft movements on Friday alone, a significant surge from its typical six movements. The AAI emphasises the uninterrupted continuation of regular commercial passenger flight services during this period, ensuring a seamless experience for all travelers.
