Reliance Industries, an operator of the world’s largest refining complex, has resumed vessel operations at Sikka Port in Gujarat, India, after the coastline recovered from the aftermath of cyclone Biparjoy.
The company had temporarily restricted vessel entry due to the unavailability of anchorage positions. However, as per industry sources, any vessel can now enter the Gulf of Kutch and call Sikka Ports & Terminals (STPL), according to a notice received from the company. Ship-tracking data revealed that approximately 13–21 tankers carrying around 2.74 million metric tons (20.12 million barrels) aboard 21 oil tankers were waiting to be unloaded, while Gujarat’s Pipavav Port and Kandla Port also reported resuming operations.
The recovery process continues as the region bounces back from the adverse weather conditions caused by the cyclone, signalling a return to normalcy for maritime activities in the area.
