Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, and Devendra Fadnavis, his deputy, flew over the site in a helicopter for an aerial survey, personally inspected the runway and other amenities, and discussed the progress with senior authorities. The Adani Group gave an update on the NMIA in a presentation to the Shinde-Fadnavis team. “The NMIA will be highly significant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided at the airport’s bhoomi-pujan ceremony, and he will also perform the official opening, according to Shinde.
“We are pleased to see that the work of the airport’s development is proceeding satisfactorily and quickly and that all efforts are being made to open this project to the public as soon as possible,” he said.
As stated by Fadnavis, there will be an endeavour to open this airport by 2024, and it will be one of a kind in the nation.
The goal of today’s examination was to expedite construction and find solutions to the issues preventing the airport’s growth. The airport would be regarded as a special airport in the nation because it will be connected to many different modes of transportation, remarked Fadnavis.
Shinde and Fadnavis gave the directive to fix the airport’s development issues as soon as possible so that commercial operations might begin in 2024.
An essential link will be provided by the 22 km Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, which is close to the Navi Mumbai International Airport.The airport would be able to handle 9 crore passengers annually. In the initial phase, there are four terminals and room for 42 aircraft. There will be parking for 5,500 cars. The airport will feature two runways and is being built on an area of 11.4 km.
