Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on May 15, 2026, where he will meet UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two leaders will exchange views on bilateral issues with a particular focus on energy cooperation, regional and international matters of mutual interest, and ways to advance the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The visit will serve to promote significant trade and investment linkages between the two countries, with the UAE being India’s third largest trade partner and its seventh largest cumulative source of investment over the past 25 years. With over 4.5 million Indians residing in the UAE, the welfare of the Indian community will also feature prominently in the discussions.
Following the UAE leg, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation. Bilateral trade between India and Sweden has reached USD 7.75 billion in 2025, while Swedish FDI into India has touched USD 2.825 billion over the period 2000 to 2025. The two leaders are expected to deepen collaboration across green transition, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action, and people-to-people ties.
In a significant multilateral engagement, Prime Ministers Modi and Kristersson will jointly address the European Round Table for Industry, a leading pan-European business leaders forum, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The interaction is expected to strengthen India’s economic engagement with Europe and signal its growing stature as a trusted global partner at one of the continent’s most influential business platforms.
