Allcargo Terminals increases Kolkata CFS capacity to support rising rice exports.
Allcargo Terminals, a key player in India’s CFS-ICD network, has enhanced the capacity of its Kolkata Container Freight Station (CFS) to meet the increasing demand for rice exports from West Bengal. The facility, located on 17 acres of operational land, is now equipped to handle over 1,200 TEUs of rice per month, reflecting a more than 25 percent increase in throughput capacity.
This expansion is vital as rice exports from districts like Asansol and Bardhaman surge following the lifting of the government’s export ban. The Kolkata CFS, one of six strategic terminals, is designed to optimise logistics costs and ensure efficient handling of containers with advanced equipment such as reach stackers. The facility also provides customised services, including safe, same-day transit solutions to Kolkata and Haldia ports.
Nitin Behl, Regional Head at Allcargo Terminals, highlighted a 60 percent increase in TEU volumes over the past two months, affirming their readiness to support the rising export demand.
