To tackle increasing traffic congestion, Gujarat CM announces a road widening plan, investing nearly ₹3,000 crore for more efficient travel.
In a major push to address the growing traffic challenges due to ongoing development, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has launched the ‘Ease of Transportation’ initiative. This initiative aims to enhance road safety, reduce congestion, and ensure faster, more efficient travel by widening key highways across the state.
The Chief Minister has sanctioned a substantial ₹2,995.32 crore for road expansion, targeting the widening of 61 major roads totaling 813.75 km. This will include the four-laning of 203.41 km across 21 roads, 10-meter widening of 221.45 km across 15 roads, and 7-meter widening of 388.89 km across 25 roads.
The ₹1,646.44 crore allocated for four-lane expansions and ₹580.16 crore for 10-meter widening aim to increase the overall capacity of high-traffic roads, promoting smoother commutes and boosting the state’s infrastructure. The Roads and Buildings Department will spearhead these enhancements, ensuring quicker travel times and improved safety standards for all road users.
This strategic development is expected to significantly improve the state’s transportation efficiency, aligning with Gujarat’s broader growth and infrastructure objectives.
