CEVA Logistics transports five 62-ton double-deck railcars from China to Canada using land, sea, and rail solutions.
CEVA Logistics successfully transported five oversized double-deck railcars, each weighing over 62 tons, from CRRC Tangshan’s factory in Tianjin, China, to Montreal, Canada. This 12,200-kilometre journey involved a multimodal solution utilising land, sea, and rail transport.
The logistics challenge included moving high-value and damage-prone railcars measuring 27 meters in length, 3.1 meters in width, and 4.9 meters in height. CEVA employed a detailed route plan, starting with the cargo’s departure from Tianjin to Tianjin Port, where it was shipped through the Panama Canal to Quebec’s Bécancour Port. From there, the railcars were transferred to rail tracks for the final leg to Montreal.
CEVA’s expertise ensured smooth customs clearance and safe transport, employing specialized packaging and lashing techniques. The company’s collaboration between its China and Canada teams was vital to the success of this complex international operation.
