Chatha Foods begins commercial production at its first dedicated vegetarian manufacturing unit.
Chatha Foods Limited has announced the commencement of commercial production at its new dedicated vegetarian manufacturing facility, CFL Unit II, located at Village Toffanpur, Dera Bassi (SAS Nagar), Punjab. The facility will supply products for Unifayre, the company’s market-facing brand, as well as its quick-service restaurant, HoReCa, institutional and private-label customers across India and international markets.
Built on a 3.5-acre site with an installed annual capacity of 16,000 metric tonnes, the facility is Chatha Foods’ first dedicated vegetarian manufacturing unit, marking a significant milestone in the company’s nearly three-decade manufacturing history. The fully automated plant includes dedicated production lines for cold-pressed breads, retort cooking, forming and coating and IQF/blast freezing, supported by integrated research and development, automated packaging and cold-chain dispatch.
The facility will manufacture three key categories: breads, including tortillas, roti canai, roti, kathi roll wraps and Malabari parathas; cooking bases, such as retorted gravies, pastes and non-mayo sauces; and snacks and sides, including vegetable and paneer patties, nuggets, kebabs, samosas and handmade spring rolls. Paramjit Singh Chatha, Managing Director of Chatha Foods Limited, said the investment extends the company’s manufacturing capability across a broader vegetarian portfolio, adding that vegetarian food represents a large and growing share of India’s out-of-home eating market.
With the new unit, Chatha Foods now operates three specialised manufacturing facilities across India: Dera Bassi, Punjab for vegetarian products with 16,000 MT annual capacity; Mohali, Punjab for non-vegetarian products with 7,800 MT capacity; and an Aurangabad joint venture with the Allana Group for non-vegetarian products with 7,000 MT capacity. Together, the network provides an integrated annual manufacturing capacity of 30,800 MT, supporting more than 5,000 food outlets, restaurant brands, cloud kitchens and institutional customers in India and abroad.
