BEML plans to export Vande Bharat and Metro trains, aiming for a larger global footprint.
BEML is set to expand its international presence by exporting its high-speed Vande Bharat trains and Metro train coaches, according to Chairman Shantanu Roy. This move is part of BEML’s broader strategy to diversify its operations and strengthen its global market share.
As a key manufacturer of rail coaches in India, BEML has been instrumental in the production of the Vande Bharat trains, India’s first semi-high-speed, self-propelled trains. The company also plays a major role in the manufacturing of Metro trains across the country.
The decision to export these trains reflects BEML’s confidence in the quality and competitiveness of its products on the global stage. Roy revealed that the company aims to increase export contributions to 10 percent of its revenue, up from the current 4 percent. BEML operates across three primary sectors: mining and construction, defense, and rail and metro.
