The International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA) has announced the Association will celebrate International Customs Brokers Day on January 26 every year to honour and celebrate the outstanding efforts of customs brokers worldwide.
Chairman of IFCBA, Shankar Shinde, expressed the significance of this milestone, emphasising the day as an occasion to celebrate the professionalism and commitment of customs brokers globally. The alignment with International Customs Day provides a unique opportunity to spotlight these professionals’ essential role in connecting nations, businesses, and people.
The Chairman highlighted the pivotal role played by Customs Brokers in the smooth movement of goods across borders, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering international commerce. Underlining the theme of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) for 2024 International Customs Day, “Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose,” Shinde stressed the importance of collaboration with WCO and customs administrations globally.
IFCBA envisions International Customs Brokers Day as an annual tradition fostering camaraderie among members, and providing a platform to share experiences, insights, and best practices. This day celebrates the achievements of customs brokers and positions them as integral contributors to the international trade landscape.
On the inaugural celebration on January 26, 2024, Shinde congratulated members for their dedication and contributions, acknowledging the pivotal role played by the customs brokerage profession. Dushyant Mulani, Chairman of FFFAI, applauded the initiative, emphasising its far-reaching impact on the global customs brokers community and underscoring FFFAI’s commitment to support and implement innovative initiatives for the smooth functioning of customs brokerage businesses worldwide.
