Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport, Trichy, underscoring the crucial role of the transportation industry in development.
The state-of-the-art facility, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1100 crore, is a two-level international terminal with an annual capacity to serve over 44 lakh passengers and 3,500 during peak hours.
The terminal boasts modern amenities, including 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure emigration counters. Recognising the airport’s significance, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia praised PM Modi’s leadership, noting that airports have become not only travel hubs but also growth centers and employment generators.
Scindia highlighted the democratisation of civil aviation, realising PM Modi’s vision of making air travel accessible to every citizen. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.
