The Network Planning Group convened in New Delhi to evaluate three roadways and two railways projects aimed at bolstering regional socio-economic development.
The 67th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) took place on March 12, 2024, in New Delhi, chaired by Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretary of DPIIT. The meeting aimed to assess three projects from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and two projects from the Ministry of Railways (MoR) in alignment with the PM GatiShakti principles.
The projects discussed included the development of a Multimodal Logistics Park in Maharashtra and highway projects in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar. The Multimodal Logistics Park at Pune aims to enhance freight movement efficiency, while the highway projects target improved connectivity and traffic management.
Another significant project evaluated is the construction of a 4-lane Elevated Corridor on Anishabad – Aurangabad – Hariharganj Road in Bihar. Additionally, a new Broad Gauge (BG) line between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and the doubling of the line in Bihar were also discussed. These projects are expected to bridge regional connectivity gaps, spur economic development, and ease passenger and freight movement, aligning with the goals of PM GatiShakti to integrate various transport modes for holistic development.
