The Sindi Logistics Park is set to boost trade with Bangladesh via riverine routes, starting operations ahead of schedule.
Sindi Multimodal Logistics Park, a key initiative by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is expected to commence operations in early 2025. This project, championed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, aims to facilitate exports to Bangladesh, leveraging cost-effective riverine routes.
DeltaCorp, the park’s developer, has sought permission to initiate operations with existing infrastructure before the scheduled Commercial Operation Date (COD), sources revealed. Initial activities are likely to include exporting commodities like cotton, automobile parts, and perishable goods such as oranges and onions to Bangladesh.
The logistics park is strategically located to use the rail route to Haldia, West Bengal, and river vessels onward to Bangladesh, significantly reducing transport costs. Plans to deploy car carriers for domestic automobile logistics are also in discussion, positioning Sindi as a central hub for efficient cargo movement.
