Ashok Pillay assumes role of managing director for North and Southeast Asia at SeaLead.
SeaLead has appointed Ashok Pillay as its new managing director for North and Southeast Asia. In this capacity, Pillay will oversee operations across countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, and others. Transitioning from his prior role as global director of trade management, Pillay brings a wealth of experience in shipping, intermodal transportation, and supply chain management.
Notably, his tenure at APL saw significant advancements in the Global Reefer Trade sector. Pillay expressed ambitions to enhance SeaLead’s network and brand presence across the region, emphasising penetration in both commercial and operational spheres.
This appointment aligns with SeaLead’s recent acquisition by a consortium of investors, marking a strategic move to capitalise on the promising economic outlook for Asia. Suleyman Avci, vice president of global trade, lauded Pillay’s expertise, highlighting his role in pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks in the region.
