BJP names Rekha Gupta as Delhi’s new Chief Minister after a landslide victory; swearing-in set for February 20.

Smt. Rekha Gupta has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Delhi following the BJP’s decisive victory in the 2025 Assembly elections. The announcement came after a party meeting on Wednesday. Gupta will take the oath on February 20, alongside Parvesh Verma and six other ministers.
A three-time councillor, Gupta contested from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, securing 68,200 votes and defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes. Despite being a first-time MLA, she has extensive political experience, having started her career with the Delhi University Students Union.
By selecting Gupta over seasoned leaders like Parvesh Verma, the BJP aims to strengthen its appeal among women voters while signaling a fresh leadership approach. At 41, she enters office with her campaign tagline, “Kaam hi Pehchaan” (my work is my identity), symbolising her commitment to governance and public service.
