Qatar Aviation Services Cargo, the ground handling partner of cargo carrier Qatar Airways Cargo, has been awarded the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification (SFOC) for its cargo facility at the Doha hub. This makes QAS Cargo the first cargo ground handling agent in the Middle East and Africa region to receive this certification.
The audit, conducted in April 2023, assessed the cargo handling infrastructure, equipment, and implementation of procedures at the Cargo Terminal Complex. The certification recognises QAS Cargo’s compliance with various IATA regulations, including cargo handling, dangerous goods, unit load devices, temperature control, live animals, and perishable cargo.
The achievement adds to their previous IATA CEIV certifications and reflects Qatar Airways Cargo and QAS Cargo’s commitment to delivering seamless, secure, and high-quality cargo services while prioritising customer experience and adhering to industry standards.Deepak Balakrishnan, Vice President, QAS Cargo said, “We are proud of our state-of-the-art handling facility, the services implemented, our robust and defined procedures as well as our teams who dedicatedly ensure that cargo is handled extremely well, no matter the type of cargo.
IATA’s Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification is testament to the hard work and dedication by both Qatar Airways Cargo and QAS Cargo teams.”
