The Northern India Steamer Agents Association (NISAA) held its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 13, 2024, at Hotel Shervani, New Delhi.
NISAA, a prominent association in the shipping and logistics industry, successfully conducted its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hotel Shervani, Chirag Enclave, New Delhi. The meeting saw active engagement from members and served as a platform to highlight the association’s achievements over the past year.
The AGM followed a recent by-election held earlier this month to fill key positions left vacant due to the retirement of Immediate Past President Capt. D Mishra and Executive Committee Member Neelkant Gummalla. During this process, Sasi Nair was elected unopposed as President of NISAA, while Gyan Abhishek of Maersk India and Ravi Kant Chauhan of YML India were elected unopposed as Executive Committee Members.
The AGM began with President Sasi Nair welcoming the attendees and presenting an overview of NISAA’s activities and accomplishments during 2023-24. He praised the Executive Committee (EC) members for their dedication and commitment to the association’s mission. Key achievements of the past year were highlighted, followed by the presentation of the audited balance sheet, audit report, and profit and loss account for 2023-24 by Secretary Shridhar Subramaniam. The proposed budget for 2024-25 was unanimously passed by the members present.
An important discussion during the open session revolved around the inclusion of Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs) as Associate Members of NISAA. Given the evolving landscape of shipping and logistics over the past decades, members acknowledged the need to amend the Memorandum of Association (MOA) to be more inclusive of stakeholders involved in the container (EXIM) business. A General Body Meeting (GBM) held earlier in the year had voted in favor of this amendment, paving the way for NVOCCs to join NISAA based on specific criteria and SOPs.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a dinner.
