Madhya Pradesh eliminates interstate transport check posts, introduces new enforcement points.
Madhya Pradesh government has abolished transport check posts at interstate borders, replacing them with new road safety and enforcement checking points. In the initial phase, 45 checking points will be established across the state. Mobile units comprising district transport office staff, enforcement personnel, and home guards will operate temporarily until these points are ready.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, during a video conference with officials, instructed administrative and police officers to support the Transport Department in implementing the new system. The initiative aims to eliminate existing irregularities and establish a transparent framework for interstate vehicle movements starting July 1, 2024. CM Yadav emphasised that the new system would not inconvenience heavy vehicle operators and promised strict action against any complaints regarding the transport system.
Flying squads will now operate in border districts, ensuring no issues for operators of external vehicles. CM Yadav also directed the Transport Department to organise camps in colleges for student driving licenses, ensure proper bus operations, and improve rural transport services.
The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) praised the decision, stating, “This is a monumental step towards easing road transport operations and reducing delays for our industry.”
