Maharashtra’s new logistics policy targets job creation and ₹30,573 crore revenue.
The Maharashtra government has approved the Maharashtra Logistics Policy 2024, aiming to generate 500,000 jobs and ₹30,573 crore in revenue over the next decade. The policy, developed with insights from the State Economic Advisory Council, was greenlit in a recent cabinet meeting.
A key feature of the policy is the Integrated Logistics Master Plan, which focuses on enhancing the state’s logistics infrastructure. Notable projects include the development of an international logistics hub in the Navi Mumbai-Pune region, connected to Panvel International Airport, and a national hub in the Nagpur-Wardha corridor, linked to the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway. Additionally, five state and five regional logistics hubs will be established, with a total budget allocation of ₹7,000 crore.
The policy also emphasises reducing logistics costs by 4 percent to 5 percent through green initiatives and the adoption of advanced technologies like AI and blockchain. Financial incentives will be offered to the first 100 logistics parks in each district, with space reserved in MIDC areas for 25 district logistics nodes.
