Shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk has submitted an application to the US Department of Transportation to transfer the Star Air subsidiary’s foreign air carrier permit to its newly launched Maersk Air Cargo company. According to documents, the company has asked to change and reissue Star Air’s foreign air carrier permit under the name Maersk Air Cargo, which will be the company’s new legal name, and to issue an exemption authority under the same name while waiting for the amendment to be approved.
APMoller- Maersk has recently undergone a corporate restructuring in which Maersk Air Cargo was created as a new subsidiary company of Maersk Aviation Holding, the company said in the application. “Maersk Air Cargo is the new operating entity for Maersk’s air cargo shipping service. The airline operated a special demonstration flight in August between Incheon, Korea, and Greenville-Spartanburg, US.

They join the three leased B767F freighters that will be put into service this year by Cargo Aircraft Management, the leasing division of ATSG.The carrier has also placed an order for two new B777Fs, which should arrive in 2024.
