The Khadi and Village Industries Commission releases provisional FY 2025-26 data showing a 501% rise in sales and 56% growth in employment compared to 2013-14.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) released provisional data for the financial year 2025-26 at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi on May 26, 2026. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar stated that combined sales of Khadi and Village Industries products reached Rs 1,87,105 crore in FY 2025-26, the highest figure recorded to date, representing a growth of 501% compared to Rs 31,154 crore in 2013-14. Production rose 380% from Rs 26,109 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,25,296 crore in FY 2025-26. Within the Khadi textiles segment specifically, production grew approximately 390% from Rs 811 crore to Rs 3,974 crore and sales grew approximately 628% from Rs 1,081 crore to Rs 7,869 crore over the same period. In the village industries segment, production grew approximately 380% from Rs 25,298 crore to Rs 1,21,322 crore and sales grew approximately 496% from Rs 30,073 crore to Rs 1,79,236 crore. Total employment in the Khadi and Village Industries sector grew 56% from 1.30 crore in 2013-14 to 2.04 crore in FY 2025-26. Artisans’ remuneration has increased from Rs 4 per hank in 2013-14 to Rs 15 per hank currently, a rise of approximately 275%.
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), 66,494 new units were established in FY 2025-26, with a margin money subsidy of Rs 2,457 crore disbursed against loans of Rs 7,375 crore, generating employment for 7,31,434 people. Cumulatively since inception, 10,84,679 units have been established under PMEGP with a total margin money subsidy of Rs 29,623 crore disbursed against loans of Rs 80,705 crore, providing employment to approximately 97.95 lakh people. Under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana, 37,769 machines, toolkits and equipment were distributed in FY 2025-26, taking the cumulative total to 3,23,006 units distributed since the scheme’s commencement. In the area of women’s empowerment, 47,382 of the 79,682 trainees who received training under KVIC programmes in FY 2025-26 were women, accounting for approximately 59% of the total. Under PMEGP, 28,180 women entrepreneurs established units in FY 2025-26, generating employment for 3,09,980 women. Government procurement of Khadi and Village Industries products stood at Rs 92.08 crore and sales through exhibitions and marketing initiatives amounted to Rs 30.83 crore. National Flag sales rose from Rs 0.87 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 2.35 crore in FY 2025-26.
