KSRTC, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, takes a significant step into the logistics domain with the launch of ‘Namma Cargo’ services. Primarily focusing on generating non-fare box revenue, KSRTC initiates the project with an initial fleet of 20 trucks dedicated to transporting goods across key districts, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Tumakuru, and others.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the services in Bengaluru, announcing plans to swiftly expand the fleet. Within a month, KSRTC aims to add 100 trucks, with the overall goal of introducing 500 trucks to its logistics operations within the year.
The utility, partnering with private entities, is set to leverage the Basaveshwara Bus Terminal in Peenya to optimise cargo and logistics services. Each truck, with a capacity of six tonnes, is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting the growing demand for efficient logistics services.
The initiative also extends an invitation to government departments to leverage the cargo and logistics offerings provided by KSRTC, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors for enhanced transportation solutions.
