Kerala will introduce a Logistics Parks Policy in two weeks to complement its maritime clusters and new industrial initiatives, says Minister P Rajeeve.
Kerala is set to announce a new Logistics Parks Policy within the next fortnight, aimed at bolstering the state’s logistics and maritime sectors. Minister for Industries P Rajeeve revealed that this policy will support the development of the Alappuzha maritime cluster and align with the state’s new industrial policy (2023), which focuses on promoting community-based networks.
The policy is expected to provide significant benefits to the Cherthala maritime cluster, currently under development on a 15-acre site, which is set to be fully operational by next summer. This cluster, integral to the state’s maritime ambitions, will receive additional incentives due to its alignment with Kerala’s industrial policy emphasising technology and innovation.
Additionally, the draft logistics policy proposes an investment subsidy of up to ₹7 crore for logistics parks, reflecting strong stakeholder interest. At the Maritime and Logistics Roundtable 2024, it was noted that Cochin Shipyard’s new dry dock, scheduled for inauguration on September 26, will enhance its capacity to handle up to 250 mid-size ships annually.
