Jupiter Electric Mobility’s JEM TEZ gains ARAI certification marking a milestone in the country’s electric mobility sector.
Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons, has attained approval from The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for its battery-operated light commercial vehicle (LCV), branded as JEM TEZ. The certification ensures compliance with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, signaling a significant advancement as JEM prepares for the commercial production of JEM TEZ, according to an official release.
The vehicle is set to revolutionise the market by introducing India’s first 1-ton commercial electric vehicle (EV). JEM TEZ promises optimal performance and efficiency, featuring cutting-edge fast charging technology capable of replenishing the battery from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 20 minutes at combined charging stations, the fastest charging time in the industry. Moreover, the onboard charger facilitates a full charge in less than 2 hours.
Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons, expressed delight over the ARAI approval, affirming their commitment to innovation and excellence in the electric mobility sector. He highlighted JEM TEZ as a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable future for India, foreseeing immense potential for EVs in the country’s transportation landscape.
Gaurav Jalota, CEO of Jupiter Electric Mobility, echoed this sentiment, emphasising JEM TEZ’s role in setting new standards in the commercial EV segment while aligning with India’s goals of pollution reduction and emission control. JEM aims to expand its electric vehicle portfolio to include medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MCV, HCV), and buses in the future, as per the release.
