JV signs pact for reclamation and shore protection at Maharashtra’s new port.

A joint venture between Jan De Nul and DEME has signed a Letter of Award with ITD Cementation for dredging and reclamation works at Vadhavan Port. Maharashtra. The agreement was formalised during the Belgian economic mission to India (March 1–8, 2025).
The project involves nearshore reclamation and shore protection for the greenfield port, covering 200 hectares to support the development of breakbulk and liquid cargo facilities. This initiative is a key step in the Indian government’s vision to position Vadhavan among the world’s top 10 container ports by 2040.
As a subcontractor to ITD Cementation, the Jan De Nul-DEME JV will commence construction in Q3 2025, post-monsoon. The project will deploy two large trailing suction hopper dredgers, ensuring efficient execution.
