IndiGo continues its expansion with the introduction of daily flights facilitating direct access between Mumbai and Ayodhya. Designed to enhance travel convenience, the flights offer a shorter journey for passengers.
This announcement follows IndiGo’s earlier revelation about operations from the upcoming Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya, initiating from Delhi on December 30, 2023.
The Ayodhya airport, built at a cost of Rs 350 crore by the Airports Authority of India, is set to receive its inaugural flight on December 30, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to officiate the event.
The airport features essential upgrades, including a runway capable of handling Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, an interim terminal building, air traffic control tower, fire station, parking facilities, and more. The Terminal Building incorporates sustainable features aligned with Ayodhya’s culture and heritage, including a design inspired by the upcoming Ram temple.
As part of IndiGo’s extensive network, these flights aim to connect Ayodhya with various domestic and international destinations, fostering accessibility and contributing to the region’s development. The airline is set to commence commercial operations from Delhi to Ayodhya on January 6, 2024, and from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya on January 11, 2024.
