Piyush Goyal and New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon discuss boosting bilateral trade.
India and New Zealand are progressing towards a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as announced by Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal while addressing business leaders in New Delhi. New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasised India’s significance as a “game changer” for their economy, aiming to expand the current $3 billion trade relationship.
Goyal highlighted vast collaboration potential across sectors like agri-tech, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and tourism. He underscored the importance of trusted partnerships in overcoming global challenges and envisioned a tenfold growth in bilateral trade over the next decade.
Luxon praised the deepening ties and called for exploring new economic frontiers. Goyal compared the partnership to a cricket match — “aggressive yet graceful.” Both leaders expressed optimism about leveraging each country’s strengths, building a robust economic partnership, and shaping a future that benefits their economies and global trade.
