Union Minister Piyush Goyal urges industry to embrace nationalism and unity to convert global challenges into opportunities.

Speaking at FICCI’s Foundation Day in Mumbai, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, called on Indian businesses to rise above global challenges with a spirit of nationalism and collaboration. Highlighting India’s success during the Y2K crisis and COVID-19, he said the country is well-positioned to transform today’s global uncertainties into long-term growth opportunities.
Shri Goyal emphasised the need for industry unity and mutual support, echoing Mahatma Gandhi’s 1931 message to FICCI that nationalism must guide economic progress. “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi embodies this spirit with his vision of Viksit Bharat, inclusive growth, and last-mile development,” he added.
Warning against over-dependence on cheap imports and short-term pricing strategies, the Minister stressed that resilient, diversified supply chains and self-reliance are critical for national security—especially in areas like food, energy, and emerging technologies.
“With a $4 trillion economy and 1.4 billion-strong consumer base, India stands at the cusp of becoming a $30-35 trillion economy in the next 25 years,” he said, urging businesses to be “part of the solution” during this pivotal moment.
“Together, with determination and unity, India is unstoppable,” Shri Goyal concluded, reinforcing the call for a future shaped by shared purpose, quality-driven growth, and national pride.
