The Vadpe-Majiwada project aims to decongest roads and improve logistics efficiency.
The Vadpe-Majiwada expansion on the Old Mumbai-Nashik Highway is set to improve commuting and logistics efficiency in Thane and Bhiwandi. The 23.8-km project will upgrade the highway to eight lanes, with two-lane service roads and ten new vehicular underpasses to tackle congestion caused by heavy commercial traffic from Bhiwandi’s warehouses.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has placed these underpasses at key locations like Walshin, Sonale, and Kharegaon, covering a total approach road length of 8 km. Major infrastructure additions include bridges over Kasheli and Kalwa Creek and a flyover at Vadpe. Completion is expected by May.
Further enhancing connectivity, the Samruddhi Mahamarg’s 76-km Igatpuri-Thane stretch will link to the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway by January-end, promising faster commutes between Mumbai and Nagpur while driving economic growth along the route.
