Exporters request the finance minister to extend RoDTEP for SEZs & EOUs till Sept. 30 to boost competitiveness in global trade.

Exporters have urged Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for Export-Orientated Units (EOUs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) till September 30, 2025.
Key Industry Demands
- RoDTEP should be extended till September, bringing SEZs and EOUs on par with other exports.
- The Union Budget 2025-26, set for February 1, is seen as a key opportunity to address these concerns.
- EPCES (Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs) has also urged amendments to the SEZ Act to support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Proposed SEZ Act Reforms
- Allow duty-free supplies from SEZs to the domestic market, rather than imposing full customs duties.
- Align India’s SEZ policies with global practices, particularly those in China.
Exporters emphasise that these measures would enhance manufacturing competitiveness and strengthen India’s export growth in the global market.
