Chennai event highlights export opportunities under TEPA.

The Department of Commerce organised a Chintan Shivir on “Opportunities for the Seafood Sector under the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA)” on July 3, 2026, at the Chennai Trade Centre on the sidelines of Seafood Expo Bharat 2026. The session brought together government officials, industry representatives and seafood exporters to discuss trade and investment opportunities under the agreement with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Shri Mohit Yadav, outlined the opportunities available to Indian businesses under TEPA. Representatives from Invest India, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the Export Inspection Council and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations also made presentations on investment prospects, export promotion schemes, regulatory requirements and quality standards. The event concluded with an interactive session on market access and compliance issues, with participants reaffirming their commitment to leveraging TEPA to expand India’s seafood exports to EFTA markets.
