N. Sivasailam, former Special Secretary (Logistics) and Pradeep Panicker, President & Chief Executive Officer of GMR International Airport Ltd gave their two cents on the New National Logistics Policy 2022 in the seminar organised by The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The New National Logistic policy is set to be implemented through a Comprehensive Logistics Action Plan (CLAP).
Sivasailam pressed upon making Cochin port an important gateway to India and how it has economic advantage over Colombo’s Port. He also shared that blockchain technology would be integrated with the said project. The new logistic policy would be cutting the cost of logistics below 10 perfect and would focus on modernisation, standardization & integration.
Meanwhile, Panicker talked about the factors which affected Indian logistics and believes that their targets would be achieved by 2030, while stressing upon cutting logistics costs to global practices of 8 percent. He also highlighted that the logistic sector will facilitate a 10 per cent decrease in indirect logistics costs leading to a growth of 5-8 per cent in exports.
