Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) set a new benchmark this Valentine’s season, handling 44 million rose stems weighing 1,649 metric tonnes (MT) for both international and domestic shipments. This marks a 50% year-on-year rise in stems processed and a 35% increase in tonnage, solidifying KIA’s position as India’s top hub for perishable exports for the fourth consecutive year.
Global demand for fresh-cut roses drove a 51% rise in international shipments, with 86% more stems exported than last year. Major international destinations included Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sharjah, Kuwait, and Riyadh.
Domestically, KIA transported 1,344 MT of roses, a 32% increase from 2024, with key deliveries to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. The surge highlights India’s growing floriculture industry and the rising demand for premium-quality flowers.
