Arkas Line launches ‘India Med Service’ on Feb 10, boosting trade links between India and the Mediterranean.
As part of its 2025 growth strategy, Arkas Line is expanding its global shipping network by introducing a new route to India. Following successful expansions in the Americas and the Red Sea, the company will launch its ‘India Med Service (IMS)’ on February 10, 2025, strengthening trade connectivity between India and the Mediterranean.
India Med Service (IMS): A New Trade Corridor
The IMS service will initially operate with four vessels (2,500-2,800 TEU each) and expand to five vessels by June 2025, running on a weekly schedule. The port rotation will include:
Ambarli – Evyap – Aliaga – Mersin – Aqaba – Jeddah – Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Jeddah – Aqaba – Alexandria – Ambarli.
Additionally, Arkas Line will leverage rail connections from Mundra and Nhava Sheva to facilitate cargo movement to key inland trade centres across India.
Restructuring in the Mediterranean: Blue Med Service (BMS)
To optimise its Mediterranean network, Arkas Line will merge its GPS, EMS, and SEM services into a newly structured ‘Blue Med Service (BMS),’ improving efficiency and connectivity. The BMS route will cover major ports, including Alexandria, Beirut, Genoa, La Spezia, Tangier, Valencia, and Barcelona.
Arkas Line’s Commitment to Expansion
With this launch, Arkas Line will be present in 27 countries, offering 33 services across 72 ports.
Arkas Line CEO, Can Atalay, emphasised the company’s commitment to expanding into new geographies, enhancing service variety, and investing in fleet renewal to better serve global trade.
General Agent in India
Parekh Marine Agencies has been appointed as the General Agent for Arkas Line in India, ensuring smooth service operations.
This expansion reinforces Arkas Line’s position as a key global shipping player, bridging India with the Mediterranean.
