Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, presided over the Group of Infrastructure Committee’s 10th meeting today in order to discuss ongoing interministerial concerns pertaining to the execution of various infrastructure projects. Gadkari claims that an action plan has been put in place to expedite the implementation of the PM Gati Shakti scheme.
Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry; Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology; Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Labour & Employment; Gen (Dr.) V. K. Singh (Retd.), Minister of State for RT&H & Civil Aviation; Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State for Power; Shripad Naik, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways; and Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, participated in the meeting.
Senior Ministry officers and state representatives were present during the meeting.
A number of topics were put on the agenda for discussion in order to hasten the development of ongoing infrastructure projects. These included problems with pending clearances for the environment and the forest, the facilitation of work permissions and approvals, ensuring land allocation and transfer, and the availability of funding. Discussions of environmental, forestry, and wildlife clearance issues, as well as those involving railroads and power, were also held. Creating detailed rules for environmental and forests clearing, as well as the Railways’ and MoRTH’s land policies, were also thoroughly examined.
